Default heater = buzzing sound?

here's the deal: when i have the recirculate button on the heater off(bring in fresh air) something in the right side of the dash buzzes/humms like crazy until i shut the car off. it isn't extremely loud, but noticable when at idle. when i push the recirculate button on, the buzzing immediately stops.

anybody experience something like this? what the hell could this be? turning the fan on and off has no affect on the humm. only the circulate button does.

Hm. I notice when i hit the button - I hear a buzzing sound - which is one of the doors closing.

Does it stay on all the time?

Might have something in the duct that sucks air from the outside; i.e. - leaf, dead bugs, dirt.

One of my buddies had a similar problem in his eclipse. Took it out and found a mouse nest, lol.

Yep. Forgot all about the cowl area - it gets a LOT of crap in there. Clean it out and report back. I did find a damn beetle in my vent in front of me. I turned on the heater on high - and it blew in my face. Scared the **** out of me.

kingpin: i know the sound of the door opening/closing. it's not that. it's louder, raspier, and stays on all the time.

how would i go about checking all the ducts? does this mean i'd have to rip apart the dash?

I have that from time to time. I think it's something lodged in there as well. Sometimes I blast the fanon level 4 and it goes away but it'll eventually come back.

I have the same exact problem. Sounds like something being kicked around in there. How do you clean that crap out?

I used my hand and got a ton of twigs, needles, leaves out of mine whrn i bought it (Owner lived deep in a forest). Or use compressed air but be carfull not to damage the condenser.
