Default Differences between EX and HX (yes i searched)

search only resulted in tranny info. The only differences ive found so far are ex has sunroof while the hx doesnt. Hx comes with alloy wheels. They both have power windows/ doors. I am boing to buy a 5spd so cvt tranny doesnt matter. Are there any other differences that i should know about?

I think im reconsidering this. Found a good deal on an hx. When I buy a civic i will be very interested in brake swaps. Would Hx knuckles proportioning valves etc etc (anything that changes what parts i need to get) be the same as ex parts or dx parts?

I think power was standard on the HX. Their is a tach. No moonroof and is way lighter.

the hx also has a cool little shift light built in to the cluster.just get the ex it has tweeters built in on the mirrors, moonroof, more hp stock engine, bigger front disc brakes, closer gear ratio tranny, painted moldings and mirrors etc,its jut little things but when these things are missing you then wished you should have got the ex.

That's VTEC-E, which by the way is for gas saving.

I remember a while ago on the D-series forums that people were saying there's not point in trying to make an HX faster... Their basically a lost cause... Not sure if it's true or not, but you know... EX is better I love mine (except civic driver side seatbelts suck at retracting) lol.

the d16y5/vtec-e has tons of potential. It jsut requires more research and a somewhat unconventional approach. There is plenty of reading on the subject here and here and here and here and here

i do have to say that the D16Y5 head is one of the best D head that honda came out with, since its got the hole rollor rocker head set up, witch has the ablitly to produce more power then the Y8 head, just swap out the cams, then youll have a nice motor

it already starts with a more aggressive cam than the EX.
but to the best of my knowledge, no one makes an aftermarket cam for it off the shelf. you would have to have one custom ground. not really a problem though, expecially since with everything else y5 you have to do a bunch of legwork to get it done anyway.
