need help with auto trans?????
i have a 1990 integra gs, it is automatic. my tranny is acting very weird. It will work but after a little bit it wont shift, so i have to shut the car off and let it sit, then turn it back on and let it warm up, then it starts to work. last night i went to get some food, and my car wouldnt move out of the drive through, but i pushed it to a spot, then turned it off, turned it back on and then it worked like nothing was wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated
Seems like your ATF is cooked. Cooling down ATF makes it "thicker" and helps your clutch pack grab.
Do an ATF change and see if the fluid is very dark. Don't use flush, do a change (3 qts) and after another 3k do another change. ATF has lots of detergent that frequent change can gradually clean out some old junk in there.
But if you are not tight on cash, get a low mile auto tranny from people who did the 5spd conversion, they are very cheap ($300-500) and find a shop that will swap it for you.
