Default AC Problem 93 Del Sol

hey guys, been w ahile since i posted, but i got a problem. i was driving on the highway the other day and all of a sudden i hear a hissing noise for a second. thought it was the turbo of the tractor next to me spooling. turns out it wasn't. my AC stopped blowing cold. when i got to my destination, i popped my hood and looked at my coolant level. it was low, down past teh min line on the reservoir. filled it back up and drove back home. has been fine sofar, cept for that my AC blows cold cus i didnt charge that. went on vacation, came back, and i recharged my refrigirant. put three cans in. so i drove the car around for a good 30 minutes, and its still not blowing cold. any ideas what could be wrong?

thanks
Carlos

PS: 1993 Del Sol S. B15D7 all stock AC parts

A few thoughts come to mind... mostly stupid ones....

Is the refrigerant still there?
While you're checking the pressure, find out if it needs more.
Is the compressor cycling properly?
1993 still came with R12.... did you put R12 in, or was it converted over to R134A?

EDIT: is the engine a D15B7?.... not familiar with the B15D7

Do a leak test of the A/C lines. I had the same problem and it turned out that I have a crack about 3 inches long in one of the pipes. I live in AZ man, I feel your pain =P

I had mine filled and a week later it wasn't blowing cold anymore. I would do a pressure test, like other people suggested. Or you could come to canada, its -25 celcius right now. Wont get any colder than that!

its sounds like u have a bad a/c compressor, see if the noise is coming from the compressor, if it is u have a bad compressor & clutch, if there is no noise, put dye in the system and check for leaks

had that happen to my old delsol too. Check the O-rings if theres a little crack it can leak it all out so i was check it before you spend alot of money on other things

That brings to mind another question. Did you evacuate your system before you filled it up?
