Light problem and engine question

Light problem and engine question
The other day I parked my car in front of my house, put on the ebrake, turned off the ignition and turned off my headlights. When I got out, the headlights were still on. I got back in, turned the ignition to 'on" without starting the engine, then flicked the lights on and back off. I took my keys out and got out of the car and my lights were off. Any idea what could have caused the lights to stay on?
(BTW i have a 1990 civic cx hatch)
Also what is the difference between a D15B1 and a D15B2?
