Default quick Maryland State Inspection ???

I'm about to put my car through MSI. I want to make sure it passes the first time tho.
1st. The engine smokes (white) when u start it up and it'll smoke up alot if u sit there is rev it in neutral.
2nd. The pass side inner tie rod boot is torn. (easy to fix, i just dont want to have to fix it out in the cold if i dont have to yet.)

Will it pass insp like this?

btw... im in the process of rebuilding another engine. the one in the car is on its last leg. 220K+ miles on it. I just need something to drive til the engine is finished.

MSI is a bitch....i would get that tie rod fixed...? Just PLZ make sure you dont go to a large company inspection center, they'll pin you down harder than a local garage. I went to Mr. Tire for a MSI and they failed me b/c my exhaust wasnt hanging on the metal hangers. O and btw, any aftermarket parts that you have on with the engine, brakes, or lighting will not pass. I.E. exhaust, intake, head/tailights, multipiston calipers...you get the idea, i hope you didnt put a lot of aftermarket parts on before you get the inspection.
P.S. get you headlights adjusted to maryland state settings, you'll fail if you dont, just have the place do that first then do the inspection, saves you like 25 bucks. GOOD LUCK, cuz its a BITCH

about the smoke, tell em you put seafoam in the intake, even though i doubt they'll mind cuz they wont rev the engine during inspection

That's not true about aftermarket brakes and such. They look at that, they do measure the pads though so if any of these aftermarket brakes have thin pads then they would fail. All boots have to be perfect and free of oil. Aftermarket exhausts are ok as long as you have a cat and muffler and the exhaust exists away from the car. Head lights have to be aimed close and no condensation in the housings.

I think you're referring to emissions test... not inspection.

depends on who u go to though, if its a larger business then they scrutinize the hell out of your car, if you go to a little garage somewhere, then your ok. I was told at Mr. Tire (i will never go there again) that aftermarket parts are not allowed and that it has to be oem for all working parts....but they are prolly lying about that to get more money. Bastards

i can get a sticker, but id rather not pay the inflated fee if the cars is going to pass. I dont have emissions testing in my county so i dont have to worry about that

I'll fix the tie rod boot and take it up for insp. thanks everyone.
