Default Turbo on H23. Need help and opinions.

Hi,
I am planning to put a turbo in my Prelude 1993 H23 (100.000 miles oon it). I live in Europe, and being honest, there are not many people who know how to do this. Therefore I want to aks you guys about your experience/problems/opinins about turbocharging H23. I don't want to create a monster. I want to produce around 250-260 Hp. I do have turbocharger - GT2854R by garrett, intercooler and manifold, - the other parts I am collecting at the moment. I am dealing with many questions - please help me: what pisonts should I use (forged or maybe stock will be ok)? do i have to change the head gasket for the one with low compression (instead of low compression pistons)? what injectors use - 370 or 440, what type? what fuel pump? what kind of emanage should I use? do I have to buy the adjustable cam gears? what is the safe boost on the H23 - around 6 psi or less? What is the risk of putting to much boost on the engine? What kind of problems should i take into consideration? Thank you in advance for your help.

regards,
Jacob

if you take your head off - might as well change the headgasket - its a good practice.

you might be able to keep the stock pistons - although not recommended. 250whp is fairly easy. I would recommend 440cc for that - actually, the stock injectors might work - just get an adjustable fpr and a fuel pump (walboro $99 shipped). Also, look into hondata - damn, y ou're asking a lot of questions.............6psi is coo - with a good tune, you should be fine..............
wow.........i'm going to have to tell you to search..........

440cc injectors, walbro 255 hp fuel pump, hondata s300

ditch the gt28, go with a t3/t04e 60/63

Stock OEM Headgasket

That should get you 250-260whp that you want. Drop us an email if you need help along your build.

I plan on going with this exact setup myself (h23). I am going to run 3" dp, 2.5" IC piping, 550cc injectors, walbro 255hp, garret t3/t04e, etc etc. I plan to tune with crome. I also have a .015" head shim, 3 angle valve job, gasket match p&p, and crower stage 1 cams.

How much power could I exect to see out of this and on how much boost?

that question is simple - 0whp - 900whp.
Who knows?.........i guess you could look at the prelude dyno page to find someone with your setup; however, tuning is all different - and every car is different. Whatever it is, it'll be good - you should be able to make pretty decent whp. Torque should be great also since its an h23.

hard to say, its all in the tune, some people make 200whp at 10 psi (like me .. j/k ) and others make 400whp at 10psi like john d

I will probably run the Gt2854r, as from experience I know it spins very fast, and produces more less the power I am interested in putting into my H23. Could you tell me if I should put the forged pistons or the racing rods? What is the advantage of using foged pistons (for example 9:0:1 by JE) ? I am not an expert but I do not see the need of going for low compression if this is only 250 whp. Low compreession will allow to use turbo at low rpm, but won't help to exceed the rpms the engine can handle. Correct me, if I am wrong.
I was thinking on using the emanage by greddy or smt6 by perfect power or maybe s200. s300 is much more expensive - but maybe it is worthy spending couple of more bucks.
I was wondering, if something goes wrong with the engine when running turbo, what damage can be made? what kind of complications may I face?

GOD DAMNIT!!!! SEARCH!!!! I was going to answer your questions until you started to ask what damage could be done............... search. period. Anything can happen to your engine if something ***** up - anything at all - you can blow your engine to pieces if you try hard enough. Search.

anywhere between 5 and 15... depends on the setup, tune, and turbo used

compression has nothing to do with you turbo at low rpm's and at high rpms. People go low comp for turbo because its much easier to tune, and you can usually boost more without having to worry about engine knock, and you will damage your engine if you boost a high compression engine, unless you are running super high octane gas, and super good tune, otherwise low compression will last the longest with a turbo and you can boost more
