$900 93 del sol?
I am buying a 93 del sol with no engine, no front bumper, no headlights, and no fenders. The guy wants 900 for it. I really just want a car bad, that's why I'm willing to do it, but I was just wondering if it's really worth that much? All opinions appreciated!

I paid 1k for mine. I think it's been in an accident, but havent bought the carfax to confirm it. Both rear wheel bearings are shot. I had to replace the driver side rear brake light assembly. I had to replace the front turn signal assemblies since they were missing the lenses. The driver side door handle was replaced and it was given a general tune up. But mine did have a engine, front bumper, front lights and bumpers. sans the engine it's not worth much more than 500-600. If it's in great shape MAYBE 750.
Well, if u got money and time, this is your car. He says hes got everything to make it stick. Then, u can put whatever motor you want in it (hence if u have a lot of money, it will come in handy). But dont pay more than 600 for it, cause all u have is sheetmetal, and when u think about it, not worth that. Also, check for rust. If the rust is bad, just look somewhere else.
Never buy a project out of desperation.
$900 is abso-f'n-lutely rediculous to pay for an auto sol that sounds about in good of shape as a stripped theft retreival. I might offer to take it away for free.

There is one thing that I have learned over the past 4 years. Patience really is a virtue and even though the car you are looking at right now seems like the perfect car and the owner is selling it just so that you can buy it I assure you there will be more of them. I have lost a lot of money because I couldn't be patient about buying a car. I had to have it right then. Hell at the worst you will have extra time to save money for your project.
And there is no way in hell I would buy that car. It's an automatic and I wouldn't want to be hassled with a conversion when you can buy a manual. Saves time for the more important engine work that must be done.

lol, oh yea, I forgot to mention, it IS a theft recovery. I decided today to offer 500 for it. If he says no, then I'll leave it. Thanks for your opinions, you REALLY helped me out!

Hell I got an 92 Accord EX for 600 and it runs great. The paint needs some work but I got it for the 4doors.

bought mine for 2500$ automatic 94 del sol S. dropped in a motor and converted it a manual.
good luck finding ANY shell under a grand. even in california, it's pretty rare lol.
if you know the problems and can fix it, $900 isn't a bad deal but it's just a LITTLE high for an INCOMPLETE shell. keep in mind, it's even worse to buy a modified car than what you're doing.
i was looking for what you found but the 1 i purchased is a clean title car and has never been in an accident (i autobody on my spare time) and i'm the 2nd owner (bless the grandmother who sold me the car). 2500$ is high but i gutted it and sold it along with the engine that was in there. i payed 2500$ for peace of mind knowing it hasn't been modified and i was the 2nd owner. the engine only had 100k but non vtec otherwise i would've kept it. all in all, i spent a too much but i'm still happy.

yea, that's how I was thinking at first. I know sols are usually expensive, but I think I'll pass. I paid 500 for a 93 hatch without an engine. Why would I pay 400 more just cuz it's a del sol? If he won't lower, I'll just end up passing. Well if anyone knows of a shell or a running hatch, crx, or del sol in the PA/NY/Jersey area, I got about a grand to spend. thanks
i bought mine for 2500. it is rebuilt title 18in rims carbon hood gsr leather seats drove it home from portland.
i would probally still buy the busted one 900 is prety good

are you willing to find aftermarket/oem parts for it ? also the engine should be so hard to find and shipping and handeling will be a good deal . . . your choice what your taste is . .

It doesn't. He said it's a theft recovery, so it will have a salvage title. Stay away. Stay very far away.
