Default The how long will my motor last, thread.

I got a 14b turbo kit coming in the mail right now, thats going to be put on the stock d16 with nearly 200K miles on it. I really dont mind if I blow the motor, i got another one with less miles on it, and im getting a ZC soon, and i have no room for extra motor just laying around (the other d16 is in the other crx, i dont drive it)

So im going to run about 8/9 pounds on a strong running stock D16, with proper fuel managment and tuning.

I think ill give it 1000 miles

Why only 1000?

Does the engine have good compression? If it does, then nothing is stopping it from lasting another 100k.

Providing you have a good tune etc. 9 psi is nothing for a d16!

Kick it up to 12 with a good tune and have fun with it.

You guys nuts?

I thought D series granade at 10 or more psi, unless build.

I figured if a low mile jdm D series can barely handle 9 psi, my motor with 200K and bumped up compression because of carbon buildup, wouldnt last long.

I figured nearly doubling the power on such an old veteran motor would make it see the light sometime soon? No real basis for it, runs strong, i'll check comp soon, maybe i was wrong.

I'm not nuts. Well, I guess I could be. LoL

I ran 12 psi through my stock d16z6 (well, I had headstuds and a good clutch) for 8 months. I beat on it constantly and drag raced it often. The motor had 110k on it when I boosted it and it still has perfect compression over a year later.

It will surprise you what these little motors can handle. Just make sure you give it a good tune. I spent a LOT of time tuning my car until the AF ratio was perfectly flat while I was in boost.

Seriously, tune it well and give it hell!!!

i heard that if u get a turbo u want to lower ur compression to like 8:1.. please comment...

i was also told that even if u rebuild the motor(sleeve it and such) u cant run 20+psi...even tho i heard other stuff about that... please comment also...

whoever you "heard" that stuff from, dont listen to them anymore.

to the OP. i have your same setup, stock D16A6, 14b@7psi, stock fuel system, 230K miles. it burns 3 quarts of oil per tank of gas and i cant get on it when there are cars behind me cause peple will crash from the smoke screen but i havent been able to blow it up yet. it has an overheating problem that i havent figured out and sometimes it goes up to the red but i just keep driving till i get to where i need to be. i sware honda motors can take a serious beating.

That's a lie.

Just take a look at full race's boosted civic...d16 stock sleeves @ 30 psi
