Secondary Question
How do I make sure my secondaries are opening? I dont notice a tone change at all from takeoff to 7k rpm... I did notice one time when I got to around 7400rpm the engine got alot louder... And how are the secondaries controlled? they dont have a solenoid that removes or applies vacuum do they? I am confused, because if they arent opening, then wouldnt that kill top end? Supposedly my ecu has been chipped because on the outside of it is says JUN ECU in black marker.... so i dont know what is going on. Is the ecu involved in secondary activation? Thanks all for the help.

Also, at the vacuum hose for the diaphragm, isnt there supposed to be vacuum there at idle? I dont have any vacuum.

if you want to know if your secondaries work. look under the hood at the vaccum diaphram that operates the butterflies.
note the position when the car is off. then it should move when the car is at idle. then rev it to over 5000rpm and you should see them move again.
this is the easiest way to see if the are actually closing and opening.

it really only affects your low-end torque. Top end is the same whether they are working or not.

Ok, so here is where I am at. I have vacuum in the resevoir and to the solenoid. But after the solenoid there is nothing, so the secondaries are open all the time. I am going to try and find an Intake Solenoid Valve somewhere... anyone replaced theirs before? Looks like a real PITA, it is under the IM and hard to get to...

its actually #10 in the pic next to it... they must use the same pic for different models, and then organize the numbers that are available... but im not paying $105 for this thing, anyone have one?
if you want to go ghetto there are a few other solenoids in the engine compartment that will work in its place. no need to look for that specific one. I would go to a junk yard and find one that would fit. in its place. and if you are even more ghetto just get any vaccum solenoid. and zip tie that bad boy in place.
I actually think i have a few extra solenoids laying around( i know i have the "mystery" one on jdm h22's that goes inbetween the fuel pressure reg vac hose and intake mani. Its like 30 outside so it'll have to wait
all you need to do is disconnnect the valcum hose from the secondaries and it should be open all the time, do this if your ecu is chip and does open it by it self.

I think I am going to try and find a vacuum solenoid and wire it in... not really any other choice, besides, they are there for a reason, so they should be working. will my secondaries being stuck open cause my intake to be very loud? it seems loud... thanks guys.
have you checked for a voltage change in the wiring revving it up past 5000
just a thought but if ur unsure about the ecu then maybe its not even sending the signal to open them.
