b16a in a 91 crx si, how to be sure that vtec is working? please help?
How can you be sure that the vtec is absolutely working, I know that this is probably a very stupid question, but im fairly new at this, thanks
If you redline at 8.2k then Vtec is working.
If you redline at 6.2k (roughly) then it isn't
If you have a Vtec ecu, check for codes. There is a clear window on the ecu that has a red LED. See if it's flashing........

umm i may be wrong because this is a first gen engine
but my second gen b16 went happily to 8400 till redline.
like i said.

What if the ecu doesn't have a clear window? I have a p28 from a 93 four door ex how do you check for codes on that one.
my lite is on because of my 02 sensor, I just wanted to know how to check codes if the ecu doesn't have that little window.
unbolt the exhaust manifold from the exhaust and tie up the exhaust and pull the air box and you will hear vtec if and when it kicks in
or wire up a light to the solenoid

Well if your car is a 91 Crx and you are using an OBDI ecu then you can't check for codes since the car doesn't have a CEL on the dash. Why not get a PR3 or PW0 ecu and test then......
