i think my lug nuts are loose
so i just put some new 17's on my cb7 with 215/40/17 tires and ever since i put those on my car it has been pulling left and right. when i let go of the steering wheel the car goes right, but everynow and then it goes left. if it was alignment wouldn't it only go to one side? the other is that when i accelerate to fast my steering wheel jerks really hard to the left or right, it NEVER did this before i put the new rims and tires. ive only had them for 5 days. is one of my tires loose or what the hell is causing my car to veer of to the sides.
I would get an alignment for all 4 wheels (don't want to ruin those new shoes!). The pulling to the left or right could be from the "crown" in the road to help with water runoff. To check your lug nuts, get a tourque wrench and set it for 80ft/lbs.
Without looking at it, this is going to be tough.
As a start, I'd look at
Alignment
Tie Rods (loose)
Steering Rack Mounts
Indications of the tires rubbing in the wheel wells.

you ask if your lug nuts could be loose,, then you say you are going to check them to see if they are loose and keep us updated.......
No offense man, and please do not get me wrong, i am not coming down on you but why the hell did you not check the lug nuts before you posted such a silly question ?? .. Are my lug nuts loose.. ??? how can we help you without actually looking at the lugs nuts to determine if they are loose or not .
Did your new rims come with the centering hubs>>/??

if you saw hondaaccordvtec's post, he said to use a torque wrench to check my lug nuts, so i said yeah i'll check my lug nuts. i have checked to see if they are loose, but not with a torque wrench set at 80ft/lbs. so i will do it again you ***. and yeah my rims did come with the centering hubs.
thought id ask now instead of making a new thread, how much would some springs cost me, about 100? i noticed the car seems a bit high, and i want to drop it about 1.5 inches, so springs will do for now. but how much am i looking at, as far as price goes?

HAHAHA classic!!
if they're tight with a lug wrench they should be fine.
are the tires you put on wider than stock? when I put my 18's on my car the car "tracks" with the bumps in the road a LOT more than w/ the stock tires, feels like it's pulling left & right a bit I guess. That's probably what you're feeling.
springs are $100-150 or so.

Just something to think about. When I had Prelude Si rims and Kumho 712's on my 95 EX, my car would follow the road a lot. Meaning it would pull to the left on some roads and to the right on others (more so that it did with the previous tires) but it always did the same thing on the same road. I knew it wasn't the alignment because I had the alignment done (with a print-out) at the same time the tires where installed. I later read many reviews on the same tire where people complained of the tires following the road much like I had experienced. So I figured that was the problem and didn't pay much attention to it. Then when I swapped my rims to steelies with snow tires for winter, the car tracked perfectly down the same roads it had previously been pulling on with the kumho 712's. So infact it was the tires causing the pulling.
Also, if it were your lugnuts, I dought the first sign of them being loose is going to be the car pulling to the left or right. I'm guessing you would hear some loud clunking from the rim wobbling due to the loose lugnuts.
In addition to making sure your rims are torqued to 80lb-ft, make sure you are using the correct lug nuts. Most aftermarket rims use a cone seat (tapered) for the lugnuts while Honda uses an acorn seat (rounded). So if your using OEM Honda lugnuts, chances are your using the wrong style lugnut.
If your looking for springs, look at Eibach Pro-Kit or Sportline. I don't know what the drop on the Sportline springs are but the Pro-Kit springs have about a 1.2" drop (for the 5th gen atleast). As for a price though, I'm not sure.

Alot of interstate entrance ramps are concrete and don't have ruts. Try to notice what happens next time your on one. If it still pulls, you could have a little toe out or other alignment issue or a tie-rod, balljoint or other suspension issue. If you have a good tire/alignment shop and they know you do your own work, they will show you any suspension/steering parts that need replacing before they do the alignment. At least some good shops will.

yep, the one I always go to did this when we took my girls Jimmy into them. Before they did any work they came back and told her 3 of the 4 front ball joints were bad. So I replaced them and they did the alignment and all was good. Atleast they said something first and saved her from having to pay for the alignment twice.
Also, make sure you ask for a print-out when you go get an alignment. It'll give you the before and after specs of what they did.

If your lugnuts were lose then inside yoru car u would hear a noticeable rumble and shaking in your steering wheel and u can feel the vibs threw your feet on the floor board.. and obviously the longer u wait to check the louder and the more vibs goes.. so if u dont feel that, then i doubt your lug nuts are lose.
lug nuts are not loose, im guessing its what people have said that the tires follow the road a lot more than my stock tires. i can definitely feel the road a lot more with these tires, it doesn't feel soft anymore, im guessing because of the 215/40 tire being a lot thinner than stock. as far as feeling it through the steering wheel i feel no difference. my steering wheel already shakes when driving, probably from the time my mom rear ended some truck.
As about the Springs to lower your Car. I would recommend go on Ebay and find you Brand New Springs with good price (Sleev Over/Coil Over <--- Don't think about it, it will kill your shock QUICK and much rougher ride). About the car wabbling, i'm not sure if it's your lug nuts or not. IF you bought the Rims and Tires new then i'm assuming you had them Balaced then, if that's the case then you need to check your tires to see if one is flatten then others. If you bought the tires used, then definitely recheck the Air in the tires and asked whomever you bought the rims/tires from, ask him/her if the tires are balanced. Hope these Help!
