Default Is it possable for the flywheel bolts to come out??

I just finished my brother B16 swap and I drove the car home. Everything worked ok but the engine moves alot thanks to placeracing <---**** mounts. I pulled into my driveway and I started hearing this terrible clanking sound in the engine. I went to bed (it was a long day) and when I tried it today the car was making the same noise (duhh). Well I shut it off and I could still hear somthing spining! I though maybee the starter was stuck on the flywheel. When I cranked it the engine would turn but the flywheel does! The means either the bolts came out or the crank broke! I don't think it's possable for the bolts to come out because the clutch plate shouldnt alow that to happen. But I can't beleave a crank would just break either.

Yeah, flywheel bolts can get loose if not tightened to spec.....

Ya, they're recessed, so they can back out enough to let the flywheel spin, but still be in there. Those bolts aren't that long, thus they need to be properly torqued, and in sequnce.

Yes, torque to spec and use threadlock. I thread lock everything, never have to do it twice that way.

I Just went through that this weekend, the torque spec is 76 lbs on the bolt going through the flywheel, 54 lbs for the ones on the outside of the pressure plate, And as for threadlocker, live by it! The red permatex is the right stuff to use, I don't know why I didn't use it on mine but we did one another car, duh

I'm sorry to hear that. I wish that I would have put a little more emphasis on torqueing my bolts down and in sequence.

I used to have a P.O.S. Eclipse (die dsm die!) and the torque spec on it's flywheel fulcrum was 78 lbs., so I torqued them to 80 and had the same problem, when I got it back apart, I found that it had rattled one of the placement dowels loose and shot it through the bottom of the bell housing, and that one of the bolts was about 1/4 turn from coming out and causing a huge problem. The second time, I hammered them down with the impact gun and used threadlock, then sold the piece of S#*T.
