type-s header
It depends on what your goal are. If you want the maximum power and are getting cams, p&p, high compression pistons then you really need to get a good header like DTR, Hytech, RMF or SMSP. These manufacturers all make headers that will allow you to bolt on some good horsepower (10-20). I personally recommend SMSP.

Headers are a highly debated issue in the Prelude forum. Everybody has their personal favorite and opinion. The bottom line is that all 4 of the headers listed above are excellent quality and worth every dollar.
As to how the type S compares... I don't know. It is still a stock header for type S cars.

I'm asking because I'm swapping the type-s motor, and wondering if while I have the engine still out of the bay if I should get a header, or just run the JDM Type-S since it's built by honda for the engine and has a pretty good design.
If you have the money and want the power, get a good aftermarket header. Im not sure a DC will be better than what you have. Have you considered modifying the collector and going with a 2.5" exhaust system? Do you have a hi flo cat?

the type S header just has an oval shaped pipe instead of a circle shape pipe running down the header.
this supposedly allows the air to flow better or so.
but they are still too small for a mild built engine and the gains are only like a couple HP if not less, than stock
