Default JDM M2B4 Tranny (VSS)

Does anyone know what the deal is with the power steering line which runs under the VSS on the Tranny? I am doing a auto to manual swap and I see these two line running under the VSS. I take a look in the front clip and I see that the line runs into the powersteering resevoir. Do I need this for my swap?

Those power steering lines going to the Vss are for the Variable Assist Power Steering.

No you don't need to hook those pipes up to anything. I just left both of mine open.

The power assist is proportional to the vehicle speed and steering load. So when the vehicle is in motion( i dont know the exact mph cutoff) the speed sensor pump( the sensor itself is a trochoid-rotor hydraulic pump) relieves a portion of the hydraulic pressure thus reducing power steering assist.

so for example, when you are at high speeds, the steering tightens up as opposed to at low speeds, the steering is loose?
