Not your typical idle problem...please look. Searched like a mofo~
Okay here's the deal. I have a 90 hatch with a first gen B16 that is having idling issues. The idle will fluctuate from about 900 to 1500 rpm. Sounds like a typical IACV or FITV scenario right? I cleaned the hell out of the IACV with carb cleaner and made sure the FITV waxy thing was screwed in all the way. That didnt work so as a last resort I replaced both valves with some I recently bought off a fellow H-T member, but that didnt fix the problem either. Before that i had replaced the PCV valve, all the vaccuum hoses, some coolant hoses, adjusted the idle screw on the TB and flushed the radiator. The only things that are left to do besided swapping out the TPS sensor is replacing the IM and TB gaskets. Could they possibly be bad even though they have never been taken off the head? What else should I try...am I missing something? Please help, im going crazy
Edit: I forgot to add that my cooling fan isnt hooked up to the thermoswitch...could this lead to idling issues?

i tried disconnecting the IACV and it seemed to stabilize, but then i got a CEL. Also i forgot to mention that i sprayed carb cleaner around the IM to see if i would get an idle spike. Nothing happened so i guess its not a vaccuum leak.
Make sure you have bled all the air out of your coolant. that's the #1 cause for this problem. Once air gets trapped in there its kinda hard to get out. It takes alot of squeezing on the hoses to get it all out.
I have this problem too with my d16z6 swap, idles bad once in a while when warm. I am pretty sure its my coolant, I bleed it like crazy, seems like the air never goes away though
Try turning the air idle screw down. I had this same problem and it worked for me. The screw is on top of the TB.

same thing worked for me.
same thing worked for me.
I have a similar prob...
now the car throws code
10 IAT
14 IACV
and
21 VTEC( i dont have that pluggen in)
I fixed the ect problem(6)
then these popped up.
I am guessing the reason why my car dies if i dont give it gas when it cold is because the IACV.
also, these two plugs are easy to get confused...
so i switched them, and same ****.
the car dies when cold, unless i give it gas. and it will do so until its at full operating temp.
if i gently put presure on the gas pedal( keeping it steady), the motor surges rapidly, almost like there is a vacum leak?
and the injectors are dumping a **** load of fuel in the car, i have gone thru a half tank of gas in 50 miles
WTF
is there Fast idle thermo on a d16z6?
if so where is it?

thanks for the input...i think i figured it out. looks like the idle screw on the TB is a little loose in the thread and slowly but surely loosens itself over time. what i did was take some threadlock and screwed it all the way in. then i adjusted the idle via the other screw (yup theres another one) that is located underneath the TB behind the throttle cable. you will need an allen wrench and a 7mm box wrench in order to adjust it. i will get pix later.
