Default Orange County - I need new valves. Where should I take it?

I need new valves because a few of them are bent. Where should I take my car to get the work done. I know most mechanics will send the head to a machine shop to clean and install the valves but I'm more concerned about the mechanic and their ability. I've had previous work done before on another car and a couple of them were clowns.

Btw, it's an 5th Gen w/stock head and valvetrain.

I can HELP you do the work and remove the head. I know a fantastic machine shop in fullerton that does same day turn around work. The only part thats a pain in the *** resetting the timing.

Thanx but I'm looking for maybe a Honda guru that I can pay and get it done because I work 6 days a week and I'm usually too busy doing chores on Sunday to dedicate a lot of time on the work myself.

I have all the tools n stuff, but ok. I did the head swap on my car over 20K miles ago 0 problems, no CEL, everything is perfect. I also get VERY good prices on all OEM honda parts.

I can tell you what its going to cost just in parts that should/need to be replaced. Most reputable shops charge anywhere from 50-75$ an hour.

Stuff you need from the dealer:
Head gasket, IM gasket, Cam seals, header gasket, depending how you remove the cam caps you may need a new oil dowels, hondabond, machine costs from the shop i know is about 149 bucks, new valves, new plugs, hope to christ the head is salvageable and you didnt actually snap the valves at the seats, if you havent replaced the auto tensioner, timing belt, water pump. The list goes on.

Why not give corner3 garage a call and talk to steve or nima.

Tell# 949-380-0801

They are in lake forrest and should be able to help.

If you change your mind and would like to learn a little bit my offer stands.

Assuming that I needed all new valves and just the necessary components to do the head (my car has about 25K miles on it), how much would EVERYTHING cost me? Assuming that you'd be my mechanic.

I am a hobbiest that has worked on my own car. I dont own a garage nor a business for such an undertaking. Thus my work carries no warranty. I would be more than willing to come to your house, and assist you in removing the head and everything else. Naturally you would have to pay for all parts that needed replacement and all machine costs incured.

i was just trying to help a fellow hobbiest save a few hundred dollars in labor and other bullshit as well as learn a little bit about the motor and how to work on it.

This is the ballpark figure on the OEM parts. Most likely the parts will be cheaper, but i dont want to call and get a big ol pricing list for no reason.

Full top end gasket kit $175 This kit doesnt include cam seals so an extra $10 for those.
Machine work $149
OEM valves are Ex $26 each. In $18
Id check for wear on the T belt anyway while everything is apart.
Headbolts should be able to be reused. If you want new ones OEM are $ 7.00 per bolt. ( ~70 for new OEM bolts )
If auto tensioner is KNOWN good that saves you like 75 bucks.

Assuming the removal and installation goes smooth and nothing else is broken, then you are good.

Total price in parts if you had to replace all the valves with OEM and new headbolts is $756. I get better pricing so that may save you around 100 bucks or so.

I believe aftermarket valves could be had for much cheaper.

Over a thousand just in labor? I've had the work done before on a previous vehicle and the labor was like $350.

Thanx for the comprehensive estimate! I'll def keep it in mind. I'm kinda mechanically inclined also. I've done like cam installs in B series non-vtec's before but never on a H22A and def nothing w/VTAK! lol. buy seriously, you've been very informative. Thank you. My name's Steve btw. And if I need to work on it myself, I can use our garage at work. I have all the tools also.
