oversized valves and bowl work power results please
Okay I am currently running a d16a6/d16y8 setup and I am installing some new pistons with swain tech coating..I plan to coat my head as well but I would like to know who on here has run larger valves or had larger valves and bowl work done..
I ask this because my local shop guy tells me that he once did a headjob for Stoney at VSV and the only mod to the head he did was 1mm oversize valves and bowl work and that they gained an extra 56 whp..running the same boost of like 17lbs for a total of like 465 whp....
Now I understand why it would make more power but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done this..
One thing is that this was a GSR head and it had porting done prior to him installing the valves and doing bowl work ...he did no port work at all..
??????

Bowl work is what the type r pretty much has. The local machine shop guy told me that that is where most of the flow and consequently power is achieved, through good bowl blending and valve job.

I dont have a pre-post HP numbers but I had extensive bowl work done, mainly due to the fact that my pistons broke up and chewed up my CC area. It is very easy to screw up work like that so be careful who you chose to do the work, I also had .5mm Int/Exh installed. There is a limit as to how much bowl work will make power, too much can hurt you from what I have heard from the big name porters. Try to give HEAD a PM, he is headgames motorworks.
