Default Head Work.

I have a extra head at my house for my B7. I'm taking it to a machine shop to get new valves. and I'ma use it on my B7 because my header bolts are all screwed up on my head. whats some stuff to do to the head? I know im getting it resurfaced and presure tested and cleaned. I putting my Cam off My B7 now in it because its a stage 1 but what else would be smart to do while the head is off and at the machine shop? I wanna make it reliable.

Your best bet to get a price is to call the place your taking it to an get a quote. As far as what else you could do, theres alot of things. You could get some porting and polishing done as well as bigger valves ect ect. Theres plenty of things to do and most can be covered by the shop your taking it to.

well, if only one or 2 valves are bad ill just replace them but if their all bad ill think about putting bigger ones in depending on the prices.

does anybody know a typical price on resurfacing, putting new valves in it,cleaning it, and presure testing will cost?

Well from what I've read and heard, the biggest fault on the b18a/b's are the heads not flowing to well. I dont know this from experience or anything so dont quote me but that seems to be the topic about them. If moneys an issue then just get the pressure test,valves, and a good cleaning. Either way you should be happy but the PNP was just a thought.

So everyone knows, Traviscadello is talking about a D15B7.

Travis,

Call the shop your taking it to. Not one person on here is going to know the price that they will charge.

Make your topic titles more specific also.

The head on the d-series is restricted heavly. If you are serious about getting more power out of that d15, you are going to need extensive headwork including port and polish, springs, cam, decking. It WILL be expensive.

i agree with man above me. if ur trying to get more power for more of a bargain get a z6 head u can proly pick one up from craigslist for like a bill and some p29 pistons from a d16a1 from the junkyard. compression should b way better. u relatively speaking if u changed ur tranny to an ex/si u should b keepin up with b16's if not beating em
