Default Gas/Octance boost

Preludes are meant to run on premium only. I usually run 93. I was wondering if i generally will see any benefits by running Sunoco Ultra 94 or running octane boost. Car is mostly stock with h/i/e.

Powerwise=no, Octane= resistance to ignite, stability

Uh. NO.

Octane doesn't make power at all. Its just less prone to knocking. Period.

I run 92 sometimes the sunoco 94 - but thats just because I have the extra cheese. No benefit at all.

Actually, there might be a benefit. The computer can advance or retard timing based on knocking. Theoretically speaking, this means that it can advance timing and increase power with a higher octane fuel. However, your ecu would need a knock censor for this to work.

No. it will never advance timing beyond optimal performance with 93 octane. it will only retard timing if you use shittier gas.

i'd have to agree with thedread. see on most dis ignition systems, it will be constantly advancing the timing in around 1/4 degree steps until it starts to knock. then it will back the timing off by 1/2 or 1 degree increments until the knock goes away. the more the timing can be advanced, the better your fuel mileage will be. so you would think that the higher the octane, the better your fuel mileage would be. that is the case for most late model vehicles with dis because they can advance the timing to around 25 degrees. it cannont advance it any further than its limit though obviously. so if while running 93 octane, your timing is averaging 18 degrees btdc with a max of 25 degrees btdc, running 95 octane could bring it to 22 degrees btdc, increasing fuel mileage. however, if while running the recommended octane, the average advance is almost at the max, running higher octane will effect fuel mileage in a negative way. sorry this was so long, i just like to give thorough explanations.
