car has rattle sound like a valve tap, but it goes away once its at operating temperature. does anyone know what this is??

 

if its coming from the left side when your facing your engine, then it might be your distributor shaft bearing, hondas and acuras tend to do that. start it up cold and then get a stethoscope and put it by distributor and see if its coming from there, if not then listen to all the valves to see where its coming from

Sounds like it could be the valve lash. Might need a valve adjustment.

 

either that or the oil hasn't circulated throughout the entire motor, plus when metal heats up, it expands, thus making the clearance more tight, making the noise go away... ...plus where is the noise coming from exactly..?..have you tried using the stethescope, because it can also be a million other things.

 

yea my all motor build up on my LS dc4 does that too. except i have it set up for NOS and until i spray it sounds like a diesel engine when its starts up cold but when it heats up the metals expand thus quietting it up. but if u listen real hard u can still hear it, no biggy.

 

you might have a oil pick tube that is not yet cloged but getting there (lack of oil)
how many miles on the car?

 

its a 91 integra with a b16 swap
