Default Quaife Vs OBX

I have heard alot about Quaife and OBX. I have heard that OBX was crap compared to Quaife. Is this true? Is there anyone running OBX that has not had any problems? I need some feedback before spending alot of money...Thank you!!

doesn't obx just straight out coped quaife's design?

there's some good success at autox with obx and again, obx being a shitty company will no warranty anything.
there's a post back then, the dude installed the obx diff. on his honda, the thing wore out and fwak up the tranny case and the axle is locked.

he called up obx and end up getting a "no" for their lifetime warranty

in short, i would go for quaife

The OBX is a helical, Torsen axle just like the Quaife.

You'll have to decide for yourself if the potential savings of the OBX is worth the potential risk.

How much HP do you have, and what are you doing with your car?

There are a couple of reliable people floating around who can get you good prices on Quaife if that's the way you decide to go.

ive heard good reviews about the obx v2 lsd's. their first version had problems with axles getting stuck because of them not being beveled correctly.

OBX is just a knockoff brand, if you want the real stuff, you gotta get Quaife. Stock LSD is probably better then OBX.

Doesn't OBX work throttle off, like the Quaife? The Honda Torsen axles only work throttle on.

a few have had good results with obx. but quaife is the better option. you pay for what you get. there are several post on obx lsd's. check the archieves with the search option. that should have been your first stop before posting. but save your bread to get the better lsd.

what is the downside to welding the spider? The old rabbit roadracers did that, and they had to turn, right and left! I'm halfway to tearing the thing out and having it welded. 1200 for a lsd for street is too much for me.

I don't have any experiences with VW's but, I know on a Honda it is a b#tch to try and turn with a spool! So I imagine it is the same with a welded diff. Definately something I would not recommend for the street.
