Default Overheating...again

I had a problem a few weeks ago with the car overheating, once. Thought it was the headgasket, found out I was missing one of the 2 bolts holding in the housing that attaches to the head for the upper radiator hose. Replaced it, seemed to work fine, until today.

Car started getting hot again this afternoon. The temperature gauge went up as the RPM's went up, and vice versa. Entirely dependant upon each other. I thought maybe an air bubble in the cooling system, got home, popped the radiator cap, no air bubbles that I could see. Car does not overheat at idle. I had lost no coolant, and no coolant/oil mix anywhere. Visually, everything appears fine.

Since I originally believed my problem to be the upper radiator hose housing, I pulled it off, cleaned both surfaces, and made a new gasket with Permatex Gasket Maker. It's drying right now, who knows if it will fix it.

Any other ideas what might be wrong? Thermostat's been replaced within 10,000 miles, so has water pump. Coolant flushed within the past 15,000 miles.

Engine is D16Y7, stock save for I/H/E. 92,000 miles.

Back to square 1.

Overheating(although never past halfway, but still RPM dependent), loss of power (push on gas, huge lag, then car moves foward then lags again). The last symptom makes me think headgasket.

That's all I got. Any more confirmations or ideas? Probably try and do a leakdown test or take it somewhere and get one done.

Link to another thread with the exact same problem. He does not mention any loss of power when overheating however.

Shop called. Said they idled it until it got hot, then it kept getting hotter and hotter as if the thermostat wasn't opening. They replaced the thermostat (which they said was installed wrong last time, something about the thermostat being under the rubber instead of on top of it?) and said it runs fine now. Granted they didn't drive it for ~30 minutes in traffic like I did, but they said it doesn't overheat anymore.

They tested the headgasket, the radiator, everything looks great they said. I guess this could explain the intermittency of the problem. Sometimes the thermostat opened, sometimes it didn't. Still odd though, it's only a year old. Maybe I got a bad one, or maybe since it was installed wrong (so they say) it messed something up.

<-------Crosses fingers so hard they turn white hoping the problem is fixed
