Problem: car sputters at LOW RPM and IDLE.

checked: plugs.... FOULED.
o2 sensor, FOULED.

after my JRSC install, the car ran PERFECT. I mean, right off the bat with a little SAFC tune i did myself. DSM 450 injectors.

after a few hard pulls..... (about 100 miles, it started to sputter)

pulled the plugs (which had 100 miles on them and were one step colder than stock. heat range 6 &lt;--new)

they were BLACK. (and would NOT stay running)

installed NEW plugs along with plugwires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter.

car started and idled.... although a little rough.

drove the car maybe 5-10 miles MAX... and again... started to sputter.

thought maybe it was rich at idle.... (at WOT it ran GOOD! )

took out the DSM 450s, installed STOCK injectors, adjusted fuel pressure.

smoothed out a little.

decided to check o2 sensor.... ALSO, BLACK. those 10 mile plugs, BLACK.

I had a spare 02 laying around, but cant remember if it was good or not.

installed ORIGINAL plugs (when i was N/A) and spare o2 sensor. car started up, and idles a little better.

WHAT CAN I DO TO AT LEAST GET THIS DRIVABLE???? I KNOW I NEED A DYNO-TUNE. and I AM WORKING ON GETTING THE CASH. but, I HAVE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DYNO SOMEHOW. I DONT WANT TO KILL MY CAR. WHAT IS THE SAFEST WAY???? would it be okay to take off the supercharger belt and drive it the 50 or so miles to the dyno?????

I also just bought a A/F gauge and BOOST gauge.... I will install tomorrow when it is light, to try and provide a little more info.

well you already know that this one's got me stumped....

but I do have one thing I can offer - if you wanna rent one of those cheap u-haul trailers, I can borrow my dad's F150 to pull it...

we would have to figure out how to schedule it around work though. I don't know where you're taking it for tuning....

let me know.

oh, it is.

i thought you were helping ME with my problem still.

leaky headgasket would make your car run like ***.

i just did compression check on a KNOWN bad motor.

D16A1 (dohc zc) it was 180- DEAD- 180- 185.

so we're buying a DOHC ZC head and all new OEM parts from honda/acura and hopefully get this car running right again.

You got $150?

That will get you a conversion harness and a P06. Then all you would need is a readily available D15B7 distributor for an OBD-0 to OBD-1 conversion.

With the enhanced resolution of the OBD-1 ECU and Crome with Boosttools+ you would most likely be happier with the vac-boost transition and low boost driveability. 20x24 maps are here now.

I heard that the OBD1 distributor doesnt really line up correctly on the d16a6.

'vac-boost transition and low boost drivability?' it ran pretty good before.

its tempting. but WHO would be able to dyno tune it if i did convert to OBD1 ???

D15B7 and D16A6 use the same casting for the head. The Z6 VTEC distributor is the one that doesn't fit.

Quick answer, yes I know how. Not to sure when I'll have time to help. I could PM you with some helpful tips.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by streetwerkz &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">uhhh a whole laundry list of problems</TD></TR></TABLE>
Okay OBD-0 right. It sounds like you are running WAYYYYYYYY rich. The Jackson Charger can run just fine with oem injectors. So you doubled your injectors, you need to come down like 50% but the SAFC won't let you come down that far. So you need to retune your chip so that it is leveled to play with 450's instead of 240's at a stock level, then come up 10% across the board before you start to tune. You'll also want to run Boost tools and retard timing at 0 bar, I'd say 2 degrees across the board the. That should give you a good base line to start with.

I might have a JRSC chip for OBD-0 non-vtec. Have to check at home.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SoCalGsR1 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">something about a head gasket</TD></TR></TABLE> Call up my boy Collier (call-e-er). Great guy, good prices, great work. head gasket probably in a day, but don't be in a hurry. PM for the number.

yeah, i already scaled down the injectors to the stockers.

re-read the jackson instructions to NOT change anything they dont tell you to.

(i mean, i did anyway.... come on)

its running a little better, but we'l see after i put in a new ignitor, o2, and new plugs all at the same time.
