do a tune up on the car, check your tire pressure, and then get back to us..

are you running rich? look at your rear bumper to see if there is any black residue.
how many miles on the motor
when was the last time you change your o2 sensor?

check the pressure in your wheels and make sure they are all the same and correct. do a tune up i.e. spark plugs, wires, o2, new air filter stuff along those lines should help improve your MPG

the tires are ok one was a little low, i swear its burning like twice the amount of gas
the fuel filter was changed like 3 months ago air filter is fine
i've have the car for a year don't know when spark plugs were changed last i haven't changed them, i've put almost 30k miles on the car i believe its almost at 151k miles

the car does burn oil, i didn't know this when i got the car seems the oil pan gasket has a leak thats what it looked like when i was getting an oil change, usually i'll put something in the oil to thicken it up or just add more oil when the level goes down.

when i didn't know it was leaking it all empited out, my check engine light then went on and the code tells me its the catalytic converter, but i had been driving the car for a long time like that and the gas was fine, it was just a month ago that the gas started burning a lot,

i hope that helps, any other questions let me know

plugs do make a difference but it is usually a gradual degratation over time.

if your cat is fucked like you were saying it was it will cause problems as it will cause a lot of restriction. A possible cause of a clogged cat is running rich. Kind of a vicious cycle.

i changed my spark plugs myself today, it was fun and way easy
pepboys or course tried to sell me the most expensive ones first
i do a 1.5-2 hour drive once a week, usually it takes about a quarter tank of gas, but for the last month it was taking half a tank,
when i did the drive this morning it took half a tank i changed the plugs before i went home, the ones i took out the tips were very white on two of them and not as much on the other two, so i replaced all and my gas mpg on the way home went back to normal, hopefully this solves the problem, i'll monitor it over the next two days.

solving the oil leak would probably help a lot but i heard its a few hundred to get the gasket changed so that might be a while

put a cup of water on your dash, try to drive around without spilling it. anything else wastes gas. Kinda **** but it works.

i change my oil on a regular basis every 3000 miles but usually i have to add some in inbetween that cause of either leaking or burning

around how much would i be spending to pay a shop to change the gasket?

Good point. However he is in San Diego so I don't think it is the root of his problem.
