hey guys, something weird happened earlier today. I was driving my civic into the mall parking lot when some crazy lady runs the stop sign and fails to yeild me the right of way. I was only going about 15mph and saw her in just enough time to slam the brake so she didnt hit me. Well my car stalled. When I tried to start it, it would just sputter and such. I gave it a little gas and it cranked but I had to rev it to keep it running. The weird part is it rev limited at 3.5k and wouldnt rev any higher and when I lifted the throttle it went dead. After a few more moments it started correctly and ran fine. This is the second time my car has done this. Does anyone know why this happens and if it is a problem? Thanks for the help!

 

thats really stragne, wether it be timing or what not, your ecu is correcting it, deff, look into it some more

 

i had that problem before
i just needed a tune up badly
fuel filter was dirty
how many miles on the car

 

well in my opinion is that you must of not done the <U>Operation-Of-Order</U> when you stall . . .

1. Put In Neutral
2. Start Car

( not really an operation . . )

but this is what usually happends what ive' actually experienced . . when ppl stall in a car . . they panic and id' usually panic my self . . .

The 3.5K thing sounds like a limp mode or a computer implaced protection in case something is really fucked.

 

its strange though, maybe just a fail safe? I dont think it jumped timing or anything.

 

maybe it was b/c u hit your brakes real hard and shifted your gas to where it was goin to the engine and it was tryin to recover from the loss of fuel...or the fuel filter could be clogged pretty bad do the maintanance or w/e..lol goodluck

 

What did it sound like? If it sounded like the engine going on/off very quickly then it is probably the ECU

If it didn't sound like anything then it could be something else. You may have knocked some honeycomb around your cat coverter and then knocked it back into place later. Just one posibility.

Knocked an air buble in your fuel line.....the list goes on and on.

If it's not doing it again.....just let sleeping dogs lie.

 

no, there is no cat. And it was rev limiting like it would a 7.4-5 at top end. weird!
