Default need help i have weird shifter problem on my 5th gen

ok i have no idea whats goin on, i never had a problem with the tranny or shifter when i got the tranny swap to a 5speed till now, i was at the drive thru at lunch and as soon as i put the car in first it didnt want to go in so i try again and shove it in and it goes in but it doesnt feel rite i take off and when i shift to 2nd i have to pull it out of 1st then shove it back in to 2nd and its the same with every gear, there is no grinding or anything it drives fine its just that i have to force it in and out of every gear, so i take the center console out and check the shifter i take the cable off to see if its the shifter and its not it moves freely so i grab the cable and its hard to push in and out but it doesnt look broke so now i stuck i dont know ehat else i should check

please help me out

oh and everything is stock i have made no upgrades to the shifter

thanks in advance for any help

you sure you're not losing clutch pressure? maybe a leaky m/c?

i know it's stupid, but have you lubed up the cables, to make sure there's no resistance? go to a bicycle shop and get some tri-flow, that **** works wonders!

they sell tri-flow in an aerosol bottle with a straw, kinda like WD-40. i'd start by spraying where you can see, and disassemble farther back as necessary. sometimes just taking something apart and putting it back together again can solve the problem for no apparent reason. i had that happen to my friend's Gary Fisher, right after i installed a king headset for him. he crashed and it was binding on one side, i had just faced the frame and everything. i took it completely apart, found nothing wrong, put it back together and it worked. he said "you fixed it?" i said "i sure did" he said "great! what was wrong?" i said "not a clue."
