When i went to hit third last night racing some Corvette The shifter went all the way forward as far as it would go instead of stopping like it does when it's in gear.

I can feel the neutral postion still, but I have no 2nd, 4th, or reverse. I can get it into the top gears(1st, 3rd, and 5th) but I can still push the shifter all the way forward till it hit's the center console, but it will not go down from the neutral position. Could this be a broken shifter cable? Or a broken selector arm inside the tranny? Anyone ever have this problem?

 

sounds like shifter cable.... maybe even clutch.
