help! shifter problem.
heres what happened...i was driving normal...then pulled into the turning ramp and down shifted to 3rd. i had my hand resting on the shifter after i merged, and applied no pressure on it. then it suddenly fell foward. now it only goes front and back, but not side to side. also i think it's stuck in 3rd gear! can someone please help and tell me where to start looking?
i was able to drive home, staying in 3rd gear the whole time...so the clutch engages and disengages fine (although i prbly just burnt the sh*t out of it). so i think its the shifter cables. do u think it's where it connects to the tranny, or somewhere underneath the car, or did it snap? what do you think?

Yes check ur shifter cables. Have a friend try and shift into all gears, and look under the engine bay at the shifter cables where they attach to the tranny and see what the problem is, could be that 1 of them broke or came off or it getting bound up somewhere.
of it's all still connected at the tranny, and the problem is somewhere along the line..can u get to the cables from under the car? or do they go through the cabin straight to the engine bay?
thanks...found the problem...very simple, the cotterpin broke off i guess and the cable was disconnected from the lever on the tranny.
thanks for everyones help
