Anyone got tips on how to fix a 97 gsr tranny?
The darn car wont go into reverse. 3rd and 4th gear are not straight. U have to play around with the shifter before it actually goes in. Tranny has new synchros and bearings.
Thanks ahead

Hey Dogginator,
thanks for the reply. the tranny work was done by a couple of mechanic friends i have. they re obviously not transmission pros. but anyhow, it was bad when i got it with the motor and thats why i had them replace the synchros and bearings.

The forks are not that expensive, if that is the problem.

Make sure you shift linkage is installed correctly. (I'm not sure what you meant by "not straight".) Did the transmission have trouble engaging 3, 4, and R before the synchro work?

Before the synchros and bearings work, the tranny was grinding bad in all gears. The reverse was able to go in but it took awhile. What I meant by 3rd and 4th gear not being straight is you have to move the shifter closer to 5th to get in 3rd, and closer to Reverse to get in 4th. The 1st, 2nd, and 5th gears are a little hard but not bad. Could it be the clutch? I've got a stage 2 clutch in there. Any kinda help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Honestly, transmissions are still vodoo to me. I installed an ITR LSD in my GSR with my buddy, but that is as far as my experience goes. When I did the install, I used the feeler gauges to check everything.
I suggest checking the linkage and engine/transmission mounts first. If the probelm is internal, pull the transmission and check everything. (Unfortunately, you probably need your car.) You can download the proper manual at hondahookup.com.
