Default How Agressive Are ITR ECU Timing Maps, Getting Detonation at Light throttle.....

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the level of agressiveness for timing maps on an ITR ecu. I am running it on a b16a , but thought someone may have an answer to this on this board. I get light pinging at light throttle and lower rpms (around 2500-3000 mostly) to the point where I can't run more than 14 degrees timing. Full throttle blasts are fine, it is light throttle that causes the pinging. I am only running about 11:1 compression. I have backed off the base timing for the time being to 14 degrees BTDC or lower. I have tried to increase the fuel pressure but that just makes the car very unresponsive at light throttle and doesn't stop the pinging all the time. The pinging does not happen with the stock ecu, as I can set the car up with 18 degrees BTDC timing and have no problems, but as soon as I swap in the ITR ecu it occurs. I like the ITR ecu's redline, and it seems to run better in the mid-range compared to the stocker so I would like to keep using it if I could. Anyone have any info on this subject or know of any ways to improve things, that would be great , thanks. p.s. - I have done all the basics to try an help the situation, run 92-94 octane all the time, upgraded the cooling system, installed an oil cooler, run cooler plugs, cold air intake, exhaust upgrades, oil catch can install, etc....

Hey Joey. As Far as I know the ITR ECU should drop right into your B16A and work fine. This is alittle differnt but I did back to back runs on the dyno tracing the air/fuel ratio a couple years ago with a 97 ITR ecu and a 98 GSR ecu on my old LS/VTEC engine. The only difference in the A/F trace data was the ITR ecu running really rich above 6700 rpm. Other than that they were the same.

What year ITR is the ECU from and is it a Factory ecu or a reprogramed copy?

Matt, it is a 1999 ITR ecu, factory part, never opened up or altered. The ecu runs great in all respects, except the pinging problem, it is more responsive than my stock ecu so I am thinking the timing maps may be more agressive perhaps to make up for the ITR intake manifold. I don't think there is any fuel issue, certainly isn't running lean. thanks for your assistance.
