Best Motor Swap for 97 2.2CL
I am looking for some info on motor swaps for my 2.2CL. I just want to build a quick daily and right now the 2.2 SOHC VTEC with auto just isnt cutting it. I was wondering about doing maybe a b18 block with a b16 head and turbo would get the job done. is this something that would swap into the car easily? also i really want to swap in a 5 spd so i thinking along the lines of a prelude tranny. i know a couple local guys that have said good things about the prelude tranny being strong stock for stock vs other honda trannies. just give me the specifics, i would like to build a fast daily but be able to keep the gas mileage and i know nothing about honda performance.

You can easily build a high torque H22A for very little money relative to building other motors, and it will Dynojet in the 220 HP range. I would not recommend going too radical with the H22A, and I would not recommend any kind of B18 because (1)your car is kind of big for a Honda and (2)you are saddled with an automatic.
If you're willing to do a complete swap to five speed, you can go a little more radical on the H22A, but you're still better off with the high torque H22A than you'd ever be with any B motor.

AND... If I'm not mistaken, the early CL's were based on the 1994-1997 ACCORD, not the Civic.
The H-Series is a more logical choice if you must do some sort of swap.
