Default h22?

would an h22 in a eg hatch be a reliable daily driver swap? or would a b series be the better way to go? i dont care about price wise just the better one.

Just make sure you get a healthy motor. Replace any of the parts on the engine that might be old and worn out.

I haven't had a single mechanical problem yet with my H22.

Here's a simple way of looking at it, but before I go into it, I'll say yes. I drive my H22 EJ in PA, where the winters are cold, the roads suck, and ice is everywhere.

Now, as for my theory. Go walk around a parking lot and tell me how many H22 Preludes you see. Or how many Civic SIs. Your H22 or B16 isn't going to spontaneously combust, just let it warm up before you hammer it. Getting into your car on a Monday morning when its 18 degrees and hitting 6500 rpms isn't the wisest decision, but yes its just as prone to failure as a D15.

Not sure where you live, but if weather isn't a factor, then still yes. Absolutely yes...

I thoroughly agree about letting your car warm-up.

I let mine reach almost full operating temperature EVERY time I drive the car. It has just become a habit to start my car in my garage a few minutes before I leave.

Starting you car, especially in cold weather, and immediately driving it hard is a good way to harm your engine.

Although, if money isn't a problem for you...get a K-swap!

You do relize how much extra work goes into swapping an H in to your EH, correct?
Or even a k for that matter?

Not only is proper warm up essential, but so is proper cool down. A lot of people over look that. This topic gets killed on here. Check the hybrid forum.

Hope you have the garage door open when you are doing that.... there is nothing like the sleepy high one gets from sitting in the garage with the door shut and the engine idling.

It is usually followed by your forehead hitting the steering wheel and the gentle touch of death.
