Hello.
I finished my search here in Germany for a material that is nearly comparable to the mildsteele 1018.
The supplier told me that it is very difficult to weld but couldn´t tell me more about that.
What are your experiencees with that or are there any things that I have to take care of?
What filler for mild-to-stainless321-welding? I thought 347 would be the right stuff?
Thanks

Here are the ingerdients of the material that I can get:
0.35-0.45%C (carbon)
0.20-0.4.%Si
1.3-1.6%Mn
0.035%Pphosphorus
0.035%Sulphur
There you can see that it doesn´t contain chrom or molybdenum. Why do you think that this can be a problem?
What do you guys suggest me? If you want to help me please give me the ingredients of the materials because your AISI system doesn´t exist here and so it is nearly impossible for me to compare that to our sytematic.
Thanks

What I not understand is - why use companys like fullrace and lovefab mildsteel if it seems to be such a problem to weld? - Just a question of the price?
In the past,I ever took stainless for my flanges but had a lot of problems with shrinking while welding - so the holes weren´t in the same location than before.
So I decided to try mildsteele or are there other suggestions?
Thanks

When your welding chromoly you use mild steel rod.Unless it is going to be heat treated. Then you use the correct chromoly rod.
