Default type R or skunk2s or stock cams in my GSR?

i wanna know what cams would actually be worth putting in without spending too much money..probably a budget of 400-500..if not less..ive heard of putting ITR cams and using the ITR valvesprings for the intake side and using the GSR INTAKE springs on the exhaust side...supposedly this set up gives a decent gain..i want to know if its worth doing this or should i just get skAnk2's with whatever valvetrain..

i will get the car tuned with Crome..i will have the bolt ons..i just wanna do some head work..hook me up with some advice..switchin from Boost to VTEC!! then probably boosting that later on..who knows!? but someone point me in the right direction!! PLEASE! thanks in advanced!

i also wanna know what would be the preferred valvesprings and retainers for this set up? or whatever setup someone suggests..would ITR be good enough..im probably gonna set redline to 9500..but probably only taking it to 8500-9000 but 9500 on the runs i feel like tearin things up..aight..help me up! thanks

If your gonna switch to boost Id say the itr's, but dont expect to ever rev to 9500 on even full itr valvesprings safely. You'll need some aftermarket valvesprings and retainers for those type of revs. But Id go with some skunk2 stg2's and their valvetrain to match for all motor.

you have to set a power goal in mind and go from there..
P73 cams will yield a nice gain and they have a nice curve for the street.
9500 rpms...no need to rev that high... like 8500 tops. you need very nice cams to make power at 9k+.
buy itr intake springs and use your intake gsrs for the exhaust.
If you want added peace of mind get some porshe i mean portflow inners and be done.

you'll be fine if you're only reving to 8500rpm on stock GSR valvetrain w/ITR cams.

Anything higher and you'll want to upgrade your springs, not necessarily retainers but is a worthy upgrade as well if staying with ITR cams. Anything bigger than Type-R cams, then all of the above is suggested to use..

Yes 8500 is good enough...btw, Type-R cams make power up to 8500rpm and then the powerband falls off...

thats right...

oh and you more than likely won't hang with a Type-R with just TYpe-R cams...you'll want a type-R tranny as well to keep up at least. GSR has longer gear ratios than a ITR.

ima probably just go with type r cams..cheaper and good enough...i just want to make sure about something...are ctr cams better than itr? would it be best to get ctr intake and itr exhaust? or both ctr? or both itr? thanks for the info guyz

Depends on what bolt-ons, you'd probably hang with an ITR w/ I/H/E/Cams, actually you'd have better top end speed (beyone the 1/4 mile that is) being that GSR's have longer gear ratios than ITR's.

Yes, go with CTR cams if you can, the intake cam is better than 97 & under US/JDM ITR cams. CTR & ITR exhaust cams are exactly the same.
