anybody built a sub box in the spare tire dip? (i'm looking for dimensions..hehe)
i was just wondering if anybodys built one that i can just steal your dimensions from....i'm lookin for two 12's each in 1 cubic foot
anybody built anything about that size in the spare tire area? has anyone built one at all...maybe have some tips and what not?

thats not gona work well casue the space down there aint that big u will need it to come up any way y not get a custom box made that lays over the spare tire not to many people here condone stereos we all like to go fast. but i have 2 eclipse aluminum 12s siting in my bedroom
hm, okay..riiiiiight. well considering my stereo all together weighs no more than 50 pounds, and i only weigh 135...then i'm probably still the same weight (if not less) than everybody else since i'm so light myself. i hate that 'heavy ***' radio stereotype everyone spills all over the place. anywayyyy...the airspace in the hole itself might not be big enough, but if you raise the entire floor up 1,2...maybe even 3 inches all together, then you can get a HUGE airspace. i was just wondering if anyone's gone through the trouble already. thanks anyway.
dude a set of good 12s weigh alot i know i was in alot of stereo competitions and 50 lbs well the wood for the box is gonna weigh about 2 lbs maybe more and teh speakers at least 10 each for radio shack and mine weigh in at 40lbs each amp weighs a few lbs and so on if u have descent subs they are gonna be at least 6 inches maybe 12 mine are 12 deep so its not good be 3 inches off the floor. unless u use one sub down there then id sugest using fiber glass as the bottom and figurin out the air space to correctly tune the box to exact specs or ur sub(s) will sound like crap
man what are you talking about? i can't even understand what you're saying with no punctuation....but yeah..my subs weigh 20 pounds each..my amp weighs 10 pounds
and i think you completely misunderstood what i was saying about the floor...i mean the 'floor' as in the TOP of the hole....sink the subs in the hole and use a 3-4" lift over the entire TOP of the floor...then you have a good 7-9" to sink the subs....my subs aren't '12' deep (i assume you mean inches?)...so i think it'll work. i know exactly what needs to be done...and i know if it's not tuned it'll sound like crap. i'm not a newbie to stereo's dude..i was just wondering if anyone has done the hard work yet. but, again....thanks anyway.

ok... let me explain in a way u can comprehend. No one here has subs except like one person who has a wall of them. Take your subs and see if they will even both fit in there. then take mesurements and do some work. Take some pride and say u made it and if u used someone elses desing it wouldnt technically work. Since teh Q or the sub is diff for every speaker. so u need a different size box than another sub.
i built a false floor box for my dads 87 rex using 1 15, but looking at your name, i realize these dimensions wont work, but if i remember correctly i had to beat out a little more area of the tire well with a BFH and the box was about 20" wide, 18" long and 5" deep, but these are outside dimensions using 1/2" mdf and the top of the box was cut using the old wood(cardboard) floor and the back floor is now raised up about 2"
i would imagine these dimensions would be close to working for 2nd gen crxs, i would check mine, but i have a box with 3 15s on top of my spare tire well

Well, If you can find the right person to set up the system you can do some thing similar to what I'm doing.I'm dropping a Square 10" Solo-Baric into my wheel well. The way I've set it up, it will be easy for me to pull my box when I go to the track.Disconnect two wires and lift it out.And I've got it set up where I can put stuff in the back, with out crushing the sub.Hell you can't even see the sub,but you'll hear it."People don't steal what they can't see

people follow ur *** home or where ever and steel it i know u get out few hours later bam ur **** is gone or ur alarm is goin off
follow the directions in the link provided in an earlier reply. The fiberglass shell is the way to do it, i've done it before, but not in a CRX. All you have to do after is cut out the top and screw it to the pieces of wood that the fiberglass is laid on.
be sure you seal it well where the top piece goes on. The only thing i would have done different is when you lay the fiberglass mat down, line the well with garbage bags, then peel them off of your mold, so the box is removable and you don't have a mess in your spare tire well.

i have my box built into my spare tire compartment. im running an american bass VFL 12" sub. i believe the box we built came out to be 2 cubic feet. not what was recomended for the sub but it still pounds. 147.3 db. i will try and get exact dimensions from my friend who built the box. if you want pics of how we did it email me at VFLeuro@aol.com
