Question about ARP Rod Bolts, Line Bore, and ACL Bearing Combo
Im going with the 9mm ARP rod bolts on stock GSR rods. I reciently learned that the rods need to be line bored after they have the rods pressed into because they distort and become oval. I also plan on running ACL bearings in this build. The question is, am I going to have to use OEM bearings to get the Rod Bearing clearances within spec? I am hoping this isint to broad of a question and im going to have to find out the hard way
a good machine shop can hone and line bore as needed so you can use the ACL bearings.

Ok, thanks for the replies, but I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. By Line Boring the Big side of the rod, the diameter is going to be increased. When i run the standard ACL Green Size bearings, im going to have the clearance of what i would normally have + the amount that was line bored out...is that going to be to much, thus requiring me to go to the next size up Honda OEM bearing? I have a feeling that im going to have to do this, get the bearings and find out myself if I need the Honda bearings...I am just trying to save money. I know this might be a longshot, but Im sure someone on here has done a build and used this combination of parts for a build.
ok, thought you haven't purchased bearing yet and were going to get oversized bearings so a machine shop could hone them in perfect.
what your asking is like putting a block guard in without boring and honing the cylinders. not a good idea.
why are you not using the stock bolts? I've personally never had them fail and have run 350wHP on a stock GSR and 404wHP on a prelude with stock rod bolts.
save the money and go with the stock ones.

Actually, most failures i have seen have been the rod bolts...
Putting a block guard in and not honing? uh I still don't think you understand me. The issue here is the clearances I am going to end up with, not a debate whether to line bore or not, or use the arp rods or not...

when the machine shop re-sizes your rods they will not become larger. A good mahcine shop will put them back to spec .: you can use ur acls just fine.

find out what you have for needed bearings now and then check the manual. if you allready have one of the thicker bearings you might get lucky. Also how much are they going to need to take off to get them perfectly round needs to be put into factor.
