Default My 5th gen lude just die and won't start in the middle of the street..

I was just cruising on the street, and it was all green light during the night time, and I came to one stop, and all the sudden, the oil and the battery light came up, just like if you stalled the car. But as I try to crank up the car, nothing. The battery is good, the car just won’t start. No smoke coming from the engine, no pop sound that I am aware of..Not sure what is wrong..

Hopefully it is not my timing belt, currently at 66k. Or maybe was that I let me friend drove my car prior, and he was downshifting pretty hard, and when he stopped, I can see some smoke coming under my hood, but after that, I went on the freeway and everything was fine. After dinner, we went some other place and the car was fine as well, then as I was going home, it happened… freaking sucks…
anyone might be able to shine some light on the issue ?

Check for fuel. Make sure you're pumping that fuel - check your fuel pump relay first.

Spark

Compression

Also check your starter.
Do a starter draw test...........steps
1: Pull the fuel pump relay
2: hook up a vat 40 to your battery w/inductive clamp around whatever wire.
3: hm, oh - have a partner crank the car while you read the amperage pull and battery voltage.

How do you know the battery is good?

When trying to start the car - what exactly happens? Does it crank and not turn over? Or does it clicK? .......need more info.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me. I blew the fuse to my ECU. My battery and oil light both came on, and when i would turn the key, my car would act like it was trying to start but never would.

I think i did the ignition switch recall.

Fuse blow to the ECU..hmm maybe I will look into that.

When I try to start the car it would just crank and not turn over. The reason I said the battery is good because my battery die on me serveral time before, and the sound for that is clicking if I try to start the car, and also my light and radio were all working as well, so I think my battery is good ..

Could it be the distributor? since if it's bad then it won't be able to send spark to the cam. When I try to crank my car on, it just sound like it almost would start, but the last stage won't kick in

thanks guys

$525 if all your valves are ok....

how much lower is the compression? if the timing belt breaks it usally takes some valves.

now i got the word back from the shop that it's my tensioner that broke, and he is changing the waterpump for me, and using the old timebelt, $517 for all..

Honda dealership quoted me $640 for all the belts(ac/timing/balance,etc + water pump)

I forgot whats the compression reading that he read to me, i think it was 185 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd one is 170 or so, not so sure

How do you know for a fact that your battery is good? You think that the battery is still good after using it to recharge your vibrators for 20 hours straight? Speaking of which, your vibrator fetish is really sickening. The only thing worse than your fetish is your face and your shitty *** prelude. I wish you would rot in hell with that bitch you call your mom. expletive you and your life, ******!!!!!!!!

King Pin, keep up the **** talk and I'll be forced to keep you and your mom away from my dick. I know your mom's all caught up on my Long Dong from Hong Kong, so she'll be mad as a bitch in heat if you expletive it up for her. Now calm the expletive down and get on yo knees...

Yeah. :thumbs down:

I'm not going to get in an arguments with a mere child; however, if you DO have the ***** to settle this - come to GI or Nap and come see me. If not - i don't want to hear your ****. And yes - my mom loves the long dong. I'm glad you two are doing well. Son, this isn't middle school - "yo mama" jokes just don't cut it anymore.

You little ***** - don't forget, I'm your King - you have two options:
1: Get on your knees and kiss my feet
or
2: Get on your knees and suck my d*ck

Oh LOOK! You hit your 5 post/day limit. Damn.

Honestly, I wish I lived in Cali for a day. Oh boy.
So boy, are you coming to Gary, IN this weekend? I'll be waiting for you. Don't bitch up. C'mon - i'll make you bend over and grab your ankles you little expletive.

To the poster - I apologize man. We have kids on this forum, and there's nothing we can do about it.

blah, it's done. My friend's dads shop went ahead and do the job... replaced the timing belt tensioner and waterpump for the total of $520...
The price is bad, but it's I can't pull out since it's a friend's shop..
anyway, my car is working again now,
but it is making this whinning noise like supercharger or something, could it be that the timing belt is too tight or the something ?

to TheKINGPin, it's cool man.

and to JDmahmed, STFU

the whining noise is most likely an improperly installed timing belt, whining on the edge of a gear or the tensioner pulley

take that ghetto sheit back to the shop and get new oem stuff.....do it right the first time....
