Hi i just got a 1996 HX with 50,000 miles on it, I'm not planning doing an engine swap can someone please tell me some mods I can do to at least break the 15's???

Ohhhhh boy , you are soooooooo setting yourself up for it . HEHEHEHEHE . Although I have heard that the HX motors are better to work with . I have the D16y8 UGH . Intake headers exhaust you know the deal .

Well, you can do the intake, header, and exhaust, but if you put the header on, you will have to get a cat off of an ex. If you don't run a cat with obdII, then you will get a check engine light....

 

After that I would say titanium valve springs, and eventually cams. You'll be able to cross 8k rpms.

 

The single best mod for an HX is a TRANSMISSION from an EX. The EX gears are closer than the HX, and it will surely help your accleration. The HX motors are actually better in most cases than the EX motors in terms of whp, but the HX tranny sucks because it's for fuel economy only.

I/H/E would be a waste of $1,000+ really because how much power do you think you'll get from them?
