Default What are the signs of a bad or going bad coil??

Once in a while, I get this sputtering when I get on the gas. I had a problem once before and it was the igniter. I'm wondering if this sputtering could be caused by the coil or maybe the wires themselves. Any ideas?

when my coil bit the dust it ran shiity for about 10 days, like it lacked hp,especially when i gunned it. one sure fire hint is that the rpms are reading real low almost like its barely running but the car "seems" to sound and idle fine (sound wise)

then out of the blue you'll be stranded!

Good idea on the fuel filter. I'm gonna give it a change this weekend.

It does kinda do what you are saying, when I really get on the gas, is when it sputters.

Thanks for your help.

Hmmmm... actually, I DO have one that falls off very now and then. I think I'm gonna give that a try too.

Check your oil level if it's doing it in VTEC.
