Icon2 lagging acceleration/idle dropping

I got a 96 ek coupe running a d16y8. just a couple days ago i noticed my acceleration had a bit of a lag to it. Even when the gas pedal is pressed itll go, then stay at that speed and rpm like something is holding it back or blocking it from going faster, then bounce back and keep going faster. or sometimes you got to slam it a couple times to keep it going. I dont know whats going on here. and Since this has been happening sometimes when im at a dead stop say at a stoplight, my idle will slowly sputter and move lower to where the car almost feels like its going to shut off then bounce back to a normal idle. Does this have anything to do with the fuel injector cleaner I put in last week? Bad tank of gas? Furel Filter? Anyone know whats the problem? thanks!!!

I have the SAME exact problem on my 97 ek hatch running a d16y7 with 170k miles. I used Lucas cleaner so my injectors are probably fine. I replaced my fuel filter, ignition coil, cap and rotor, and spark plugs, and I still have that same problem. My last resort is replacing the header/cat combo which is very expensive. Any thoughts?

bump for having the same problem. I also put in a fuel injection cleaner awhile back and now my car hesitates. I've searched around for answers and I think the fuel filter got clogged up.

Do an ignition system tune up and adjust the ignition timing to spec.
