You should read the rules ... but...

It's all about your personal preferences and your past experiences, and your future plans for the car (not as in performance or modifications, but more in terms of what you will be using the car for on a daily basis. i.e. commute, groceries, carpools).

If you definitely want a Honda (or Acura) that is $3000 or less, you've certainly narrowed down your options. A Civic is a good choice for depandability- Maintenance is relatively inexpensive and simple.

Lots of choices out there, trim levels, number of doors, etc. Maybe look into some DA Integras? Or a 4-door 92-95 Civic? I've always found those to be convenient for daily drivers. It's all up to you, shop around, don't be hasty, and figure out which one works best for you.

Buy a civic shell for under a grand. That is what they usually sell for. I sold my 93 civic with no rust and redone suspenson for 300 buck with no motor. THen buy an integra ls motor from a junkyard. They usually charge bout 700 for a complete ls swap. Then put them together and lives you a grand to do other modications. LS motors are quick in civics.

Ya, the rules do state not to post that, but they also state not to post in the thread unless you have some good information to give, i.e. dont post just to post or to flame. He's not asking us to choose for him, nor is he asking what we think. He is asking what would be a good decision with his $3k. What would be reliable.

Check out some of the car sites

http://www.kbb.com
http://www.cars.com
http://www.vehix.com

obviously since you've elected to post in the 92-00 civic forum your looking in that year range. GO on those sites to check prices, reliability and other concerns.

i picked up a 95 civic ex coupe w/ 160k on the body and 60k on the engine... same engine just came out of a del sol cause the old engine spun a bearing.

if you look, you will find.

ORRR

i would look at a salvage yard for the 'reapairable' vehicles... you may be able to find an early-mid 90s honda with fairly light damage thats an easy fix.
