Default Cold Heat Soldering Irons

Searched but didn't find anything... forward me link if you guys know of one.

Any opinions on the cold heat soldering guns for use on basic apps? Apparently it heats up and cools down fast, that's it. But is it as good as a traditional soldering iron?

Thanks.

JUNK! The tip broke after 30 minutes of using it. Took it back and bought a standard 30watt soldering pen.

Yeah they are crap. You can buy a small butane iron for $30 at rat shack or fry's electronics.

Do you guys prefer the standard AC or the portable butane ones? or are they basically the same, but one is more handy?

cold heat= won't even heat up 24 gauge wire.

I was ******* pumped about it when i first saw it. I ordered it and I haven't used the thing once. I soon going to buy a soldering station, I am sick of ******* with low powered guns. anymore, i would say 90% of the time, I have been buying closed end connectors. Just heat them up using a propane torch, fill them with solder, and dip the damn wire in. No ******* hassle.

spending money on a good soldering iron is sooooo worth it. i cant say enough about the new pace irons we got at work. much more power than the wellers we had and super stable (temp wise). look up the pace st-45, they go for just over 100 bux.
