Starting engine without timing adjustment...?
I just put on a new distributor and I dont have a timing light gun at the moment. Is it safe to start the car?
Also when the old dist. was on I just mark a line from the middle of the dist. and ran it to where it bolts up to the head.If I get the new dist. pretty much even with that mark will the timing be pretty much set?
Thanks

Yes It should be in the same time as the original starter.

What???You cookin??
You have to start it eventually to time it. Just try to set it right in the middle and start it up. You can get it pretty damn close by ear, then limp it straight to a mech. to time it.
