I dont know what the hell is wrong with my car, its a 97 dx hatch, d16y7, i will be going down the highway, and all the sudden my car will do this.... BRrrrrrbrrrrbrrrr(running fine) brrrrrrrrbrrrrrrrr...DUH (and jerk real real hard like stalling or something).....BRrrrrr(running fine for like 5 secs)...brrrrrr...Duh duh (stalls like twice)....WTF!!!!! i have recently put a short ram on, new plugs, pcv valve, distributor cap, rotor, ...my brakes are making weird noises....other symptoms its having is like a pinging in 5th gear when acceleratig...kinda like a knocking sound..the only time it stalls out like that is when ive been driving for like 10-15 mins at highway speed.. idk whats goin on but i really need help!!!!!!!

 

my car wouldnt go past 55mph when my cat went bad, the entire car would shake and want to die if i went faster than that.... maybe look into that?

 

Start with what you recently did to the engine. distributor cap, rotor, new spark plugs.. If I were you I'd would start at those places. It may be something simple like something you forgot. Did you put the plugs back in the right order?

 

i just got a new cat put in it, but the O2 sensor is b4 the cat so i thot maybe that could be a problem, but i dunno, it runs fine until i have drove like 15 mins, and i only have the problem in 5th gear. i know i put the plugs back in right. Could it be anything to do with the transmission fluid/lubricant laevel? havent checked it since i got the car!
