honestly, as far as i know the z6's/y8's are great engines to build...but ive also heard that actually boosting a D15 w/ a vtec head(if vtec is what you want) is a better choice b/c the blocks hold up better...but i cant say for sure...

Arguably, the A6 bottom end is one of the strongest of the D series engines. Both the Z6 and Y8 are very similar, and would net similar results. As far as the USDM D15 - it has smaller rods which are prone to failure if exposed to detonation. The A6/Z6/Y8 and JDM D15B (which has Z6 rods) are more robust in this respect, but any detonation is really undesireable.

There are some people who have experienced main bearing failures on the Y8's, which some have also attributed to reduction in output from the oil pump as opposed to the Z6. This hasn't been proven to no doubt, but it is something to consider. If either the Z6 or A6 is available, I'd most likely pick one of them (price and mileage if not rebuilding are also considerations).

My $.02

how much pis do you plan on running? internals etc. can you give more details and what kind of #'s you're looking for...if you're looknig for something small a sleeved block probably isnt necessary, but you're looking to probably spend about 8 dollars on a sleeved used block( http://www.hondamarketplace.com is where the deals are at)

i think that you can get away w/o sleeving the block for sure, if you're trying to save money ...but sleeving is def. not a bad idea and is always reasurance

Are you saying you want to get 350 out of a sohc?!
If you are... you'll never make that much, especially if you plan to keep the stock bottom-end.

The sohcs have been good for 200-250-ish w/ good tuning on stock-block.
