vtec help not working

Default vtec help not working

ok my buddy has a 1996 honda civic dx and he swapped a b16 into it.we are using a obd2a vtec harness and a jumper to a p28.it only throws one code, code 6 and the vtec does not work.just wondering if anyone knew or had this problem.thanks

Well code 6 is the water temp sensor, I'm not sure if its the one on the thermostat or under the dizzy (d16's have a 2nd one there). Chances are you have the two connectors (thermostat temp sensor and vtec solenoid). If that was the case, the ecu would be reading a deactivated vtec solenoid for water temps, and trying to activate vtec with the water sensor. The sensor's connector is typically brown, and usually the vtec connector green.
