built d16z6/y8 with skunk2 cam... loud valves normal?
like the topic says... I have a built d16z6 block with a d16y8 head, zc pistons, with a skunk2 cam. the valves seem very loud and I was woudering if this is normal? other then that it runs well other then at idle it wavers a slight bit but thats fine.

but this is a d series. how loud were your valves? cus I can really hear mine.. i got ppl askin me if its a diesel
ya my compression is right around 12.5/1 or so and its serious clickin. kinda scary. but maybe this is normal?
is it your valves...becuase if they are clickin they are probably a little bit too loose....set valves need to be done right and can be kinda quirky...make sure you set them to the tolerances that the company that made the cam said to set it too....with my zex cam it was just slightly different than the factory honda spec...
with that high of compression it could be engine knock right?
do you got premium pump gas in the thing??

ya I'm running 92 with 2 bottles of 104 octaneboost in it. and got the timing backed off a bit. and I've herd from ppl that the skunk2 stage 1 cam is supposed to be at stock specs. so I put it in the middle of the range. should I go on the tight side?
sounds EXACTLY like why I am experiencing with my motor....and I know for a fact that there is nothing wrong with my setup. Sounds like a case of paranoia made you jumpy dude.
12.5 compression with s2s3 cams is what I run. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

Oh, and FYI. If you have it tuned correctly you don't need to waste your money on that octane booster crap. Some of the addatives can mess with things after prolonged usage. I run 93 octane Chevron, Exxon, or Mobil 1 with no problem.
actually those cams suggest to change the valve springs. the springs are much stiffer and have no overlap unlike squishy stock springs.. this is a big problem with cammin a car and not doing what they suggest
The stage 3's yes, but the stage 1's should be OK on stock springs if you don't take it over the stock rev range.
Bear in mind that I am thinking B series stuff here....I know almost nothing about D series.
