Default cammed d16 questions

i have a fully built d16y8 block with a fully built d16z6 head, head has ksm springs / retainers / valves, 3 angle p&p, skunk2 stage1 cam, aem cam gear, rc 550's, block has the usual eagle / wiseco build on stock sleeves.

i just got the car running now after 3 months and its scary as all heck, all the valve tolerances have been checked and double checked .009 intake .010 exhaust (i went in the middle of specs) my cam gear is set a -2 because i hear thats the magical number on a mild cam.

its clicking very loudly, VERY loudly, and im trying to trouble shoot myself before i tow it up to the tuner and get a bill besides the tune now i have heard that d16's that are cammed are loud but i cant imagine it being as loud as it is...

any advice on this would be great

thx

-didder

I've heard on some cams (cant remember if skunk2 or what) that they make the valve train quite loud. Are you sure the clicking not coming from around a belt somewhere though?

its coming from under the valve cover, im hoping its a combo of my forged pistons / cam... and the skunk2 cam is more aggressive than the zex 59300 as well, and what would cause clicking around the belt?

If you torqued everything proper, and are sure of the valve clearances i would drive it, because i've heard many things about loud valve trains after camming on d16s
