Default car takes a while to warm up

recently i have noticed that my 95 gsr is taking forever to warm up. i drove to school today which was about a 20min drive. and the gauge was hardly above "C". although after a while warm air does come out of the vents, and the gauge does eventually move to normal temp. its just taking it a lot longer than it ever use to? is this common?

just replace it, it doesnt cost much to do...Just follow the lower radiator hosed to the back of the block and its inside of the housing (water outlet) the hose attaches to.

when you pull it out you will notice that it is stuck all the way open. if it would happen to be stuck closed (which definetely isnt your case) you can check it by putting it into very hot water and watching it open.

my car takes about 12 minutes to warm up to operating temp. when i am driving, but that is due to temps being a bit below freezing.

actually, it's still fall.

as for the original poster, I experienced the same thing. Replace your thermostat, and flush your radiator while your at it.

thats nice and mature.

trying to help the original poster out with his problem, and we get trolls that post pointless things.

Yes, it isn't winter, but most of us are experiencing winter weather.

How does your post help the original poster?

"Oh, its winter time, that means it's cold. You mean my car will take longer to warm up? Wow, thank you for that fact, you are sooooooo smart."

Even if it does take your car 12 minutes to warm up in below freezing weather, his car took 20 minutes and bearly passed the C on temp gauge.

Most likey cause being a thermostat that has deterioated and is stuck open, leaving the engine to warm up the entire radiator fluid system, instead what is just in the block.

So TEXNTEG, this is a tech forum to help people with there car problems, so if you don't have anything to offer, you should take your own advice.

Bunch of ****** ethugs on this site now. Grow up for christ sakes and help out the original poster out. All everyone seems to be doin lately is bitchin at each other. It seems like every thread, someone starts bitchin at someone else.

For god sakes listen to the bunny in bambi "If you aint got nothin nice to say, dont say anything at all." All these people are ruining this site....terrible.

And who cares what season it is. If it snows, it snows. If its hot, its hot. Who gives a damn. Keep bitchin about nothing that u can fix. Its part of life.

i helped answer the question. the car takes a little longer to warm up in the winter time. the guy lives in ohio, ohio has had some pretty severe winter weather lately. that is a damned good reason.
my DA takes 12 minutes even when it's in a parking garage(non-heated). i imagine it would take longer if the car was parked outside. it's something to consider before going to buy parts and invest time in changing the thermostat and rad. fluid. those aren't a major deal to do, but maybe it's not needed...yet.

don't tell me about trolling...i've been here for quite a while, but i mainly post in "other honda/acuras", "dc5/civic 2001+", GDD or kills because of most of the BS threads that happen in integra tech.

weather does play a factor in how quickly your engine will warm up to operating temp.

who are you to know what this site has become? you're an 05-member.

and finally, why does everyone jump on my *** when someone else had posted that it may be weather-related. that person even has the almighty hype-R.

okay, i'll try again and answer his question:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by integra95gsr &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> is this common?</TD></TR></TABLE>

it may be common due to the colder weather you are experiencing in your region of the country. this could be a factor...but as some people might argue, it is not.

better?
